The sculptures and installations of Adriaan Verwée (°1975, Belgium) often balance on the boundary between remainder and completed image. Verwée is less interested in the end result than in the creative process of the work. What might an artwork be or become? When does a work become legible as an image? These are his central questions. Verwée combines geometric structures made of wood, plaster and glass with everyday objects or furniture, always in varying compositions. Moreover, his work is always related to the exhibition space. This monograph comes out at the occasion of his eponym show, which runs from August 28th til November 2nd at M Museum, Leuven. For this exhibition, Verwée created a comprehensive installation comprising new and existing sculptural work, tailor-made to the spaces at M.
